各位朋友們平安, 今天的週末問安的主題是數算恩典 Count Your Blessings.

教會常常唱的一首聖詩歌名是 Count Your Blessings 數算恩典, 基督徒都很熟悉, 但今天我們談的卻是另一首同樣名字 Count Your Blessings 的另一首歌, 這一首數算恩典 Count Your Blessings 是美國家喻戶曉的作曲家 Irving Berlin 寫的歌, 他是為 1954 年推出的 Bing Crosby 主演的 White Christmas 這部電影寫的曲子, 這首歌獲得奧斯卡原創歌曲 Original Song 的提名, 奇怪的是歌詞卻都沒有提到聖誕節, Berlin 寫了一封信給20世紀福斯公司解釋.

他說他一直有失眠的問題, 很苦惱, 有一天他的醫生到家裏來看他, 前一天晚上他失眠了一整夜, 就將一肚子牢騷傾吐給醫生聽, 不停地報怨說他睡不著覺, 不停地數羊都沒有用, , 醫生很有耐性地聽完, 冷冷地說你只會數羊, 你有沒有數算恩典啊?  did you ever try counting your blessings? Iriving 聽了, 就住了口不再抱怨, 那天晚上, 他好好睡了一覺, 然後寫下 Count Your Blessings, 然後在後面加了一個括弧 (Instead of Sheep), 這首歌雖然是聖誕節影片的歌, 但因為歌詞沒有牽涉到聖誕節, 而是談一般人都會有的失眠問題, 所以任何時候都有人唱.
